Steve Monahan did his first gig as a bass player when he was 16 years old. From high school dances to jazz concerts, rock clubs to road houses to function halls he has been laying down the groove for over 4 decades and his phone keeps on ringing. He’s an in-demand freelance electric bass player in the Boston area who, prior to the pandemic, always played over 150 gigs a year.
With a BA in music from University of Massachusetts and a deep understanding of the pocket he can help anyone develop their inner sense of time and feel; two of the most important elements needed to be a solid bass player.
Whether you want to learn rock, jazz, folk, country, R&B, pop, funk or blues, old school or contemporary, Steve can help you get there. He concentrates on right and left hand technique combined with basic harmonic theory and an overall understanding of how the bass functions in music, while always keeping things fun and interesting!
